The Stations of the Cross will be said each Friday in Lent (except for Good Friday) at 6 pm. We use the “Biblical” stations, which is to say: the readings and events commemorated at each station are taken directly from the Bible’s account of Jesus’ Passion, Crucifixion, and Death. The prayers and hymns are taken from the Book of Common Prayer and our 1940 Hymnal. After we conclude our prayers, there is a short homily and then we share a meatless soup dinner together in Cranmer Hall. Volunteers to provide soup are needed. Curious as to what this is all about? Feel free to pick up a Stations of the Cross booklet (in the narthex) and read through it. You must sign up if you plan to attend dinner so that we are able to be prepared with enough food and materials. A sign-up sheet is located in Cranmer Hall or speak with Matthew Maule.
Saying the stations (and walking around to each one) is one way to seek to meditate upon the passion and death of our Lord Jesus, who came to offer his sinless life as a sacrifice to atone for our sins. The glorious feast of the Resurrection is all the more joyful after we have taken time to prayerfully consider the depth of God's love for us, as manifest in the self-offering of Jesus the Messiah.
